Frequently Asked Questions
How much do I need for retirement?
A common rule is 25x your annual retirement expenses (the inverse of the 4% rule). If you need $4,000/month in retirement, you need $1.2 million.
What return rate should I use?
For pre-retirement: 6-8% for balanced portfolios. For retirement years: 4-6% as you shift to more conservative allocations. Adjust based on your risk tolerance.
What if I retire early?
Early retirement requires more savings because (1) you withdraw for more years and (2) you lose some years of compound growth. Use the calculator to find the new target by adjusting your retirement age.
