What audio formats are supported?
The Audio Trimmer supports MP3, WAV, OGG, AAC, and M4A input formats. All formats are decoded using the browser's built-in Web Audio API. The output is always WAV format, which provides uncompressed, lossless audio quality. If you need other output formats, you can use a converter tool after trimming.
Is there a file size limit?
File size depends on your browser's available memory. Typically, files up to 100MB work reliably. Very large files may cause the browser to slow down. For best performance, use compressed formats like MP3 or AAC as input โ they decode to audio data in memory.
Why does it export as WAV?
WAV (Waveform Audio File Format) is an uncompressed, lossless audio format that preserves the full quality of your trimmed segment. It's widely compatible with audio editing software, video editors, and playback devices. The tradeoff is larger file size compared to MP3, but quality is guaranteed.
Does the audio quality degrade after trimming?
No quality loss occurs during trimming when exported as WAV. WAV is a lossless format that captures the exact audio samples from your original file. We only extract a segment from the already-decoded audio buffer โ no additional compression artifacts are introduced.
Can I trim multiple sections at once?
The current Audio Trimmer supports single-section trimming. To extract multiple segments, trim and download each section separately, then use an Audio Merger tool to combine them. This two-step approach gives you precise control over each segment.
